Yoon Doo Joon shifted nervously in his seat. This awards show was dragging on like a game of go fish with his hareoboji, his grandpa. Also, his suit was making him really hot. It was one of those warm summer days in Seoul and he really wanted to be outside right now. His hands were hurting from clapping for people he didn’t care about, and his shirt collar was a bit too tight. Right now everyone was cheering while a woman walked up on the stage. Apparently it was some Indian actress who had won the “Asian actress of the year award.” He looked up at the stage and stopped tugging at the collar of his shirt when the woman turned around and smiled at the audience, her award held high in her arms. She was beautiful. Her tan skin glowed against her butter-coloured dress. Long, curly brown locks bounced around her cheeks and her crescent shaped eyes lit up her face. It was her smile, however, that he loved the most. He’d never seen anyone like her, but he just had to see more of her.
Doo Joon wondered how to approach her. He frowned. Did she really know how to speak English or had she just memorized an acceptance speech? What if she only spoke Indian? Right now, he was feeling stuffy inside the hall. He decided to step outside for some fresh air.

Priyanka got off the stage and slunk into her seat with relief and thanked God she didn’t drop her award like last time, or trip over her huge feet. But now that she’d gotten her trophy, she didn’t feel like staying in the hall anymore. She just had to get out and see some of Seoul. She turned to her agent, Saurav, and handed him her award. “I’ll be back. I need some fresh air, ok?”
Priyanka had to be back in Mumbai for a film shooting in the next 24 hours. Now was her chance to sneak out and see a bit of Seoul. She pushed open the exit doors of the International Korean Center with relief- and bumped into someone. “Omygosh I’m so sorry. I totally didn’t-” she stopped when the man turned around. He was really good-looking. Asian- Chinese perhaps? She took in his mahogany hair, almond-shaped eyes, and cute smile.
She smiled. “Um, do you speak English?”
He laughed.

Doo Joon couldn’t believe he was actually talking to her. She was even more beautiful up close. He tugged at his tie nervously. Good-looking people always made him feel insecure.
And she spoke English! According to her, most Indians did. Right now they were sitting on a park bench, sipping water from the coconuts he’d bought from a local vendor. He liked how her bangles clinked every time she waved her hands around, something she did quite often while talking. Priyanka smiled. “Mmmm this is delicious.” She pointed her straw at doo Joon and smirked. “So, you’re a native of Seoul, right? Tell me; are there any cool places around here?”
Doo Joon cracked a smile. “Are you kidding me?
Come on.” He hopped off the bench and then paused. “Oh wait.”
“What?” She raised an eyebrow.
“We have to be back soon. Me and my band are gonna perform in an hour or so.”
She rolled her eyes. “Don’t but so paranoid. We’ll be back in time. You coming?” and with that she jumped off the bench and skipped down the street.
Doo Joon smiled to himself, and jogged after her. Maybe tonight wouldn’t be so bad after all.
